Infrastructure Engineer Internship
Duration: 12 months (Including a 3-month probation period)
Location: Office-based position in Johannesburg
About the Internship:
Sybrin is a leading company in innovative solutions, empowering businesses across various sectors. We are offering an internship opportunity within our IT division for an Infrastructure Engineer Intern.
This internship is designed to provide hands on experience, exposure to enterprise level systems, and opportunities for professional growth. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real projects, and develop practical skills in a structured corporate environment.
We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive, and detail oriented candidates who are eager to learn and contribute to the team while building a strong foundation for their IT careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining servers, networks, and infrastructure systems
- Support configuration and maintenance of network devices such as switches, routers, and firewalls
- Assist with system backups, patch management, and security updates
- Monitor system performance and report irregularities
- Support virtualization and cloud infrastructure environments where applicable
- Participate in infrastructure related projects under the guidance of senior engineers
- Assist in documenting infrastructure configurations and procedures
Required Skills:
- Completed or currently pursuing a Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related field
- Basic understanding of networking principles and server environments
- Foundational knowledge of operating systems such as Windows Server or Linux is advantageous
- Interest in infrastructure, networking, and enterprise systems
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team
